It was a small surprise to see Florida Georgia Line announced at winners of Top Country Artist at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (May 17), but only because Jason Aldean took the evening’s first two awards.

Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard bounced out of their chairs when Brett Eldredge read their names as winners. A few bro hugs later and the duo were thanking the important people in their lives. “God is so good,” Kelley said immediately.

Record label, management, publishing company and, of course, significant others came next. Florida Georgia Line ended by thanking their diehard fans. “Thank you for giving us the best job in the entire world!”

The win is the duo’s second all-time BBMA win, following their Top Country Song win for “Cruise” last year. Not many country stars turned out — in fact, none of the other nominees in this category were on hand to accept the award should they win. Eldredge’s appearance was a nice surprise. He did a good job in front of a national audience, looking natural as he riffed with actress Hailee Steinfeld.

FGL’s Anything Goes tour will resume next Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.
