A number of Nashville's most beloved songwriters died in 2012, including the man who helped write 'Marina Del Ray' for George Strait and 'Gonna Get a Life' for Mark Chesnutt. Frank Dycus published over 500 songs during a 45-year career that often included collaborations with Dean Dillon. Dycus had been in failing health, so his death at the age of 72 was not unexpected. Co-writer Jim Lauderdale called him, "a real hillbilly poet, with a great sensibility and a way with words," before adding: "He was a wise person and a deep thinker. I’m sure going to miss him, and a lot of other people will, too.”
