On Feb. 7, Garth Brooks turned 50 years old, and delivered a big, fat birthday gift to a friend of his. It wasn't his longtime producer Allen Reynold's birthday, but the singer surprised him by renaming the studio he recorded all but one of his albums in Allentown Studios. “My wife said, ‘It’s your 50th. Dream as big as you want.’ And I couldn't find anything in my heart that I wanted to do more than to see this guy get a little bit of what’s due,” he said.

In 2012, Brooks finished his Las Vegas residency while teasing a comeback for 2013 or 2014. He was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
