Garth Brooks was not on the docket for the first night of CMA Fest on Thursday (June 8), but he showed up in a big way.

Shocking the fans who filled Nissan Stadium Thursday night, the star walked on stage for an unexpected performance of some of his biggest hits (“The Dance,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Friends in Low Places”) in addition to some newer tunes, like “Ask Me How I Know.”

The crowd, of course, lost their minds, posting Instagram videos of the particularly notable tunes with captions like “CMA FEST BABY!” and “Mind blown!!” Check out a few more of the clips below.

Other appearances for the star-studded show included Miranda Lambert, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Kenny Rogers and more. CMA Fest 2017 continues through the weekend and features performances from just about every country artist in the genre.

Brooks has been riding the crest of a resurgence since he returned to the stage with his three-year long World Tour, slated to wrap later this year. He’s also released two new full-length albums since 2014, Man Against Machine and Gunslinger, as well as a new box set called The Ultimate Collection and a Christmas album with wife Trisha Yearwood.

Brooks’ most recent single, "Ask Me How I Know," was released in March as the second single from Gunslinger. He just added a new tour date in Oklahoma City this July on top of several dates in L.A.
