Garth Brooks Graduates From Oklahoma State University With a Master’s Degree

Students graduating from Oklahoma State University last Friday night, May 6, were surprised to see one famous Oklahoma native in attendance: Garth Brooks. He was not there to speak or to perform. The country star donned a cap and gown just like everybody else who was graduating and received his long-awaited Master's degree.

'The Dance' singer already has an advertising degree from Oklahoma State University, which he earned back in 1985. His most recent accomplishment, completed in his spare time, has been kept a secret. This was not an honorary Master's degree -- Brooks studied hard and earned it the old-fashioned way.

Several excited students who also graduated with Brooks could hardly wait until the ceremony was over to tweet about their brush with fame. One mentioned that while the applause was great for each graduate that night, the biggest noise was generated for the country star.

Student @Embreyp wrote, "Yeah that’s right I got my MS with Garth Brooks!" while @Sara_Ramsey, a guest in the audience, said, "Brother just got his Master’s from Oklahoma State. So did Garth Brooks, oddly enough. Sadly, Garth got more applause."

Another student, @ButflBrwnBbyDol, wrote, "Told y'all I graduated with THE Garth Brooks! Only at Oklahoma State!" And she posted the picture to prove it.

Meanwhile, attendee @bryankarns tweeted, "#OKState Boring Friday night graduation just got interesting … Garth Brooks walked across the stage to get his MBA." And a parent of a graduating student, @LimiGal, said that she "watched Garth Brooks get his Master’s degree at OK State Univ along with my daughter."

Brooks has been headlining shows at the Encore Theater at Wynn in Las Vegas. His next dates are June 3, 4, 23, 24 and 25, and July 22.
