The song many consider to be the hallmark hit for Garth Brooks was only his fourth release to country radio, immediately followed by 'Friends in Low Places.' 1990 was the instrumental year that changed country music, and this song had a lot to do with it. 'The Dance' is a wonderful piece of songwriting, performed with honest, heartfelt emotion. If you're not hearing it at country radio, you'll hear it at the next graduation ceremony you attend. It's truly inspirational.

The three songs topping Brooks on the Top 100 Country Songs list have endured more time than 'The Dance.' Even at No. 4, this song has plenty of potential to move up as time goes by.
