George Jones‘ legacy lives on one year after his death. His wife, Nancy Jones, has planned a public celebration at his grave, which will honor the late singer’s legacy.

The celebration will take place in Nashville at Woodlawn Cemetery on April 26, the first anniversary of the iconic country star’s death. At the site, his wife will plant two dogwood trees, next to the ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’ monument. Nancy hopes fans will join her during this momentous occasion.

“This day is going to be bittersweet,” Nancy Jones says in a statement. “I know how much people loved George, and the love has continued even a year later. I am so fortunate for the friends and fans that George and I made through the years. I want everyone to come celebrate with us, not because he is no longer with us, but to keep his legacy alive.”

Jones, lovingly known as the Possum, passed away April 26, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center at the age of 81 after battling hypoxic respiratory failure. He had been hospitalized since April 18 with a fever and irregular blood pressure.

The celebratory ceremony will begin at 1PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville.
