3. His Son Bubba Got Him Back Into Songwriting

In an interview with Headline Country, George Strait talks about his one regret: that he laid down his pen early in his songwriting career. The singer wrote quite a bit for his first few albums, but eventually his other commitments got in the way. It didn't hurt that he was being offered the best from Nashville's songwriters.

It was Strait's son Bubba (pictured far right) that got him back into it. Before recording 'Twang,' Bubba called his dad up and said he'd written a song and thought it was pretty good. That cut, 'Arkansas Dave,' is one of three from 'Twang.' He also has seven co-writing credits on 'Here for a Good Time.'
