Twenty five years later, George Strait's Pure Country album is being released on vinyl. The multi-platinum project will also be featured during his mid-September concerts in Las Vegas.

Pure Country is the soundtrack for a movie of the same name. It was Strait's first and only starring movie role. The vinyl edition of the album will drop on Sept. 15, 25 years to the day that it hit stores in 1992. It would go on to become his highest-selling single album, certified at six-times platinum.

Earlier that month, a limited edition pressing will be ready for fans at his Strait to Vegas shows at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. That's been the only place to see Strait in 2016 and 2017. He has two September shows planned (Sept. 1-2), as well as two scheduled in December. A press release reveals that he'll pay tribute to the movie's impact on his career, but stops short of saying he'll play additional songs from the album. "Heartland" and "I Cross My Heart" are the two most well-known songs from Pure Country.

Strait has been playing it cool thus far in 2017, with most news stories surrounding the purchase of or sale of a vehicle, or the launch of his tequila. In April he put the spotlight on his 60 No. 1 hits during two nights in Las Vegas, playing half one night and half the next. September will mark five years since Strait announced his retirement, but he'd officially park his tour bus in 2014. He's released two studio albums since then, Love Is Everything and Cold Beer Conversation.
