Granger Smith to Embark on a Third 100-Mile Walk for the Troops

Granger Smith is going for a walk again. The Texas country singer is preparing to embark on his third 100-mile walk for the troops this April. Since 2011, Smith has logged 200 miles in his boots to honor the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Last year, Smith combined his efforts with those of the Boot Campaign to raise awareness for our soldiers’ needs and to support their transition back home after combat. He plans to lend his feet to the 100-mile trek from Austin, Texas, to Fort Hood to do the same thing in 2013.

Through the sale of military combat boots (like the ones Smith will be wearing when he takes to the highway), the Boot Campaign donates proceeds to a group of partner charities that work with soldiers healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds, embodying the campaign motto that, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.”

The 'We Do It in a Field' hitmaker will start his journey on April 7, and just four days later he'll finish it by performing a concert at Fort Hood on April 11.

Obviously, the Texas native is no stranger to thanking our troops for their bravery. In addition to leading two prior walks for awareness, Smith has done multiple tours for soldiers stationed in the Middle East.
