NASCAR follower and singer Gretchen Wilson has signed on to perform a free concert for race fans at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Ala. on Saturday, April 16. All infield guests are invited to the show, as well as any race fan with a Sunday Aaron’s 499 race ticket.

Saturday evening will also host the qualifying races for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and after that the Aaron’s 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will take place.

The venue specifically asked Wilson to perform because they felt her energy matches that of the race. Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch says, "The social atmosphere of the Talladega Superspeedway infield is one of our key selling points. Gretchen’s concert will take that atmosphere to a whole new level. The best racing combined with the best party on the NASCAR circuit makes Talladega a must-see weekend."

As for her show, Wilson says, "You’re slammin' 'em like that for 20, 30 minutes, and then you break it down to just a couple of stools on stage. And you sing something to 'em like that, [and] really an audience has no choice but to really pay attention at that point because it’s a complete 180 from where they’ve been all night. And then, you know, almost any song works after it because you’re just rockin' 'em right back up again."
