Jake Owen is spending a day off at the doctor's office. The singer says he's going have a long-avoided surgery, but doesn't expect to miss any of his upcoming tour dates.

"Headed in for surgery," the singer said on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon (July 9). "I was trying to avoid it, but since I play guitar for a living I need to get this done."

Upcoming appearances at the Country Concert 2013 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio (July 11) and at Boston's Fenway Park (July 12-13) don't seem to be in jeopardy. Owen says there's no way he'd miss a chance to play either venue.

It's not clear if the hand injury is related to his go-kart accident from the weekend. The singer was racing NASCAR's Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick when he took a spill, resulting in a short visit to the emergency room and a temporary neck brace. He also tweeted a picture of doctors working on him.
