Jamie Lynn Spears might be most famous for being the younger sister of pop idol Britney Spears, but perhaps that won't always be be the case. Now, the 20-year-old mother and actress is jumping into a country career, as previously speculated. Pam Tillis put rumors to rest by officially announcing that she and Jamie Lynn have been working together in the studio, and video of a live country performance by Spears has now surfaced.

"One of the things I've been doing the last couple years is working with some younger artists, newer artists I should say," Tillis reportedly said. "I had a lot of people mentor me and help me out and teach me everything they knew." She added that she has been writing with Spears, who she describes as a "very talented young lady."

Friends and family became acquainted with that talent when Spears put on an intimate showcase at the Rutledge in Nashville in November. A week after her private Rutledge performance, she surprised crowds at a secret show at Puckett's, where she offered up an array of original songs, claiming her new corner in the country world. Though the artist hasn't announced an official release date for her country debut, it seems likely that we will see it some time in 2012.

And though Jamie Lynn Spears is only 20, she has her 3-and-a-half -year-old daughter, Maddie, to think about. In a backstage interview at a photo shoot with People on Dec. 31, the budding artist said of her daughter, "As long as my world can still revolve around her, then the rest will just fall into place. That’s what I think has been very organic and perfect about my music."
