Jason Aldean admits he "screwed up." After photos surfaced of the 'Take a Little Ride' singer kissing former 'American Idol' contestant Brittany Kerr in a bar, he publicly apologized for acting inappropriately -- but Kerr continues to take a beating from media and country music fans over the pair's indiscretion. Following Aldean's statement, Kerr too has stepped up to apologize for her "lapse in judgment" with the married singer.

Kerr seemed to follow Aldean's lead with her sorry statement, saying, "The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends and family."

The former 'Idol' famer reportedly told friends after the story broke that she didn't know Aldean was married and if she had, she'd never have taken things as far as they went, which contradicts her statement about having a "lapse in judgment."

After the news of the scandal made its rounds, Kerr even had to shut down her Twitter account due to the amount of verbal abuse she was receiving. Some Aldean fans spewed accusatory comments at Kerr, calling her a homewrecker for her actions, while others even went as far as to say she took advantage of a married man while he was drinking.

Kerr is likely hopeful that apologizing and owning up, as Aldean did, will diffuse the situation a bit and deflect some of the heat.
