Less than a week after reports of their separation, country superstar Jason Aldean and his wife of 12 years have decided to legally end their marriage. The 'Take a Little Ride' hitmaker filed for divorce on Friday (April 26), citing irreconcilable differences.

People magazine reports that Aldean filed for divorce from Jessica Ussery in Williamson Country in Tennessee on Friday, just one day after a representative for the singer commented on reports of their separation. "I can confirm that Jason and his wife are having problems, but there is nothing more to share with the press at this time," his rep said. "It's a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way."

The separation came less than a year after Aldean was photographed kissing Charlotte Bobcats dancer and former ‘American Idol‘ singer Brittany Kerr in a bar. He and his wife projected a united front in subsequent interviews, but sources told Us Weekly that the couple may have been separated since January. They were photographed together at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards in January, but Ussery didn’t attend the ACM Awards in Las Vegas earlier this month.
