J Rome's time on 'Duets' came to a close tonight with his final duet with Jennifer Nettles, but the young hopeful remained optimistic and upbeat about tonight's finale with a performance of DeBarge's 'Rhythm of the Night.' "The finale is a celebration," remarked the singer just before taking the stage. "I want to leave American with all I got." Did his take on the 1985 dance classic leave the remaining judges and all of America wanting more?

"I love you. You make me so happy," gushed Kelly Clarkson following the performance. The 'Mr. Know It All' singer has been an avid supporter of the talented singer, even with one of her own hopefuls still in competition.

Robin Thicke was quick to mention J Rome's likability, both onstage and off. "You always have a smile on your face and you're kind to everyone," observed the soul singer throughout the competition. "I wish you the best in this industry."

"It's crazy -- every week you do something different," commented John Legend on J Rome's unique song choice. Legend has repeatedly given the clear series frontrunner props for pushing his boundaries and stepping outside his comfort zone.

As the end of the season draws near, J Rome admitted to having difficult letting go of his celebrity mentor. "I'm crushed," the singer said of knowing he will never take the stage with Nettles again.

"For now -- you never know," chimed in the Sugarland lead singer.

"I did not know the friendship or journey in front of me when I met Jennifer Nettles," admitted J Rome. The young hopeful does know that a recording contract with Hollywood Records will be his for the taking, should he be named the winner later in episode. Stay tuned to find out!
