25-year-old country singer Jimmy Smith sang the Keith Urban hit 'Raining On Sunday' on 'American Idol' Thursday night (Feb. 21), delivering a performance that left the judges mostly unimpressed.

The Franklin, Tenn. resident wowed the judge at his audition with a soulful version of the Rascal Flatts hit ‘Bless the Broken Road,’ and moved forward to the Vegas rounds by singing the Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Landslide.' But his performance Thursday, while vocally polished, lacked energy and just didn't seem to connect.

"It's awfully hard to critique somebody who's singing your song," Urban said, thanking Smith for choosing the song, which was prevously recorded by Radney Foster.

Nicki Minaj was more to the point. "I was a little bored," she said bluntly.

Randy Jackson agreed, saying, "It was definitely a little bit boring for me."

Mariah Carey said she's been fighting for Smith all along, and while she didn't think it was his best performance, she still thinks he has a quality that America should see.

Smith was eliminated from the competition in the sudden death elimination round in Las Vegas.
