It's not clear what exactly happened when Jo Dee Messina and Chris Young came face to face recently, but it definitely left a bad taste in the 'My Give a Damn's Busted' hitmaker's mouth. Messina took to her Twitter page early Tuesday morning (July 24) to let her 42,000 followers know that she was less than impressed by rising country music star Chris Young.

"OMG! Just saw @ChrisYoungMusic. He was ugly, arrogant and rude. Really country radio? This guys [sic] an a--," she tweeted.

Young didn't respond to Messina's in-your-face tweet, and has yet to address the issue in an outright way. But he didn't have to. His fans were so quick to restore his good name that the 'Neon' hitmaker  didn't have to go to battle with Messina or share his side of the story.

After dozens of his die-hard fans jumped to his defense, pouncing on Messina for her painfully honest words, Young said simply, "If I have said it once I have said it 1,000 times. My fans are #bada--."

His indirect thank you message garnered several more responses, with his followers tweeting things like, "And your fans think you are #bada-- as well. You are a fantastic musician but also a fantastic person off the stage."

Even fellow country singer David Nail was chimed in to virtually stare down Messina just a few hours after her inflammatory tweet. Also using Twitter as s platform, Nail called Young "one of THE most down to earth artists I've met in 12 years in this town! #raisedright"

We're not sure what happened between Messina and Young, but it seems to have fizzled out pretty quickly -- Messina has since gone back to using the social media site for everyday musings. If Young cast himself in a bad light with the songstress, it's possible we'll never know how or why.
