Joey + Rory React to Grammy Loss

…more than enough

While Joey + Rory fans were disappointed that the duo didn’t win the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, the couple are handling the loss with grace.

On Monday (Feb. 16), Joey + Rory posted a photo of their Grammy nomination medal with the caption: “…more than enough.”

The pair were represented at the Grammys by Rory’s daughters Heidi and Hopie, as well as Rory’s cousin and manager, Aaron Carnahan. While Joey wanted Rory to attend — even buying him a plane ticket — her husband decided to stay beside his wife, who is battling Stage 4 cancer.

“Joey tried to talk me into going with them … many, many times,” Rory revealed on his blog This Life I Live. “She even had a Southwest ticket purchased for me that I canceled. I can’t leave her. I won’t. I have done many foolish things and made lots of mistakes in my life, but this isn’t going to be one of them.”

“Instead, I will be sitting beside her and cheering on Little Big Town, and Blake Shelton and Charles and all the talented folks who are nominated in our category and others. It’s an honor for us to just be a part of that night, it truly is,” the singer added.

Rory had high hopes that his daughters would simply enjoy themselves, “Seeing and even meeting some of their musical heroes and having a wonderful time I hope. And raising a glass and toasting to their mom and dad and this extraordinary, ordinary life we are all living.”

During the days leading up to the Grammy Awards, Heidi posted photos of her and her sister Hopie attending each event, as well as wearing jewelry given to them by Joey.

Joey Feek ended her cancer treatments in October and was given months to live. She has been vocal with her fight to survive through the Grammys, the release of the duo’s final album of hymns and their daughter Indiana’s second birthday, which is Wednesday (Feb. 17).
