Joey Feek of the country duo Joey + Rory is facing a tremendous health battle, with her faith unshaken.

Rory Feek posted an update to his blog, This Life I Live, on Thursday (July 9), as his wife prepared to undergo surgery at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. The couple woke at 5:30AM and listened to their daughter, Indiana, for a few minutes, until Joey turned to her husband and said, through tears, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”.

Her rock-solid faith in the face of such hardship made her husband think long and hard.

"Fast forward eight hours, and I’m sitting here in the waiting room, selfishly thinking … Joey’s right. This is the day that the Lord has made, cause I wouldn’t have made it this way. The day I would’ve made for my wife would’ve been much different," he writes. "It would’ve been filled with nothing but joy for her … maybe spent at the farm working in her garden, or playing with Indy in her kiddie pool. If I had made this day, no one would be saying the words cancer or surgery, and we wouldn’t be anywhere near Chicago, or signing a living-will in a hospital bed, and I wouldn’t have to kiss my scared wife goodbye as they wheel her down a hallway to undergo something that no amount of preparing for, can prepare her for."

After battling cancer last year, Joey's disease has returned, and the couple recently revealed she has been diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer.

"No, this is not the day that I would’ve made," Rory admits. "But God knows better than I do. He sees the bigger picture, I only see the one above."

Feek goes on to express his thanks to the doctors and nurses who are providing his wife's care, as well as all of those around the country who have been praying for her. He posted the video above as a tribute to his wife's strength and faith, writing, "Last year when Joey found out that she had cancer, she sang this song over and over again. And today… she’s still singing and believing."
