Alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates… Johnny Cash was a walking pharmacy during much of his early professional life. He famously was caught at the Mexico boarder with 668 amphetamine tablets and 475 tranquilizers. Time and again he'd quit with the help of wife June Carter Cash and God, but time and again he'd find himself abusing drugs. The abuse no doubt shortened the lives of two great country music legends.
