Tuesday afternoon (June 7), Josh Thompson held his first ever fan club party at Nashville club 12th & Porter, as part of the 2011 CMA Music Festival. The intimate crowd of nearly 100 diehard fans filled the club to watch the singer perform an acoustic set of his hits, as well as tracks from his debut album, 'Way Out Here,' and new songs he is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on for his sophomore album.

"I don't know what to expect today," Thompson told Taste of Country prior to taking the stage. "This is my first time doing one of these [fan club parties]. We're just going to go out, play some music and meet with my fans. It will be fun!"

Following his performance, fans enjoyed lunch of pizza, buffalo wings, chips and salsa, cheesecake, veggies and fruit platters while waiting their turn to say hello to Thompson. Among those in attendance was the singer's proud mama, Barb.

"I've seen all of you guys all over on the road," Thompson said from the stage, adding with a grin, "It's about time you guys come to me!"

Thompson anticipates wrapping up his work in the studio on his highly-anticipated second album some time next month. Stay tuned to Taste of Country when we take you in the studio in July for our exclusive one-on-one interview with Thompson about the new music and his busy year of touring, which includes the 2011 CMT Tour with Luke Bryan, Lee Brice and the winner of CMT's reality singing competition, 'Next Superstar.'
