Josh Thompson recently was on hand for a July 17 taping of ABC's hit television show 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.' The singer participated in the show by lending his time for a special concert held in Fayetteville, N.C., which helped raise funds for a female homeless veterans shelter.

"We got there in the morning to play the benefit fundraiser for the people the house was being built for," Thompson reveals to Taste of Country. "Some people from the show came out, and they took me to the house that they were building ... it was incredible! It's a log home in the middle of an urban subdivision. They took me around and showed me the main team's project area, and I was able to meet some of the workers. It was amazing to be part of that whole experience."

Look for the episode with Thompson on 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' to air sometime in October. Thompson is currently wrapping up work on his sophomore album, slated for release later this year. The new collection of songs is the follow-up to his debut album, 'Way Out Here,' which spawned the hit singles 'Beer on the Table' and 'Won't Be Lonely Long,' as well as the title track.
