Josh Turner is finally letting us know how he and wife Jennifer came to name their new son, Crawford Marion. The singer recently visited CMT Country Countdown USA to give host Lon Helton the lowdown.

"Marion came from one of my heroes, the Revolutionary War general Francis Marion," Turner says.

"They called him the Swamp Fox out of South Carolina, and our sense of this child was that he was going to be a warrior and a fighter and somebody that was able to overcome challenges," he adds. "And so he looks like he's got that look in his eye [laughs]."

When asked if Marion, who joins brothers Hampton Otis and Colby Lynch, has given them any trouble yet, Turner replies, “He’s a pretty good sleeper, he’s calm, so we’ll have to see how it goes.”

PEOPLE reports that Turner isn't the first country star of 2010 to give his baby boy a name that could be for a boy or a girl; Luke Bryan named his son Tatum.

Turner had a successful year in 2010, with two No. 1 singles: ‘All Over Me’ and ‘Why Don’t We Just Dance.’
