Josh Turner is stepping up to aid the students and community of tornado-ravaged Ringgold, Georgia in a big way. Turner is holding a benefit concert on July 14.

Ringgold was hit by a tornado on April 27. It was an EF-4 tornado, which is the second most damaging type, and it decimated approximately 50 percent of the town's businesses, homes and places of worships. Nine people were killed, including two Ringgold high schoolers. The high school itself, as well as Ringgold Middle School, suffered major structural damage. While insurance companies are repairing the actual building, lost and damaged athletic and band equipment are not covered. Such equipment took years to accrue through fundraising initiatives and much of it is not easily replaceable.

Since Turner is an avid supporter of educational programs -- he created the Josh Turner Scholarship Fund to assist students interested in pursuing a future in arts and music -- it makes total sense that the singer is engaging in this benefit show. As a high school student in South Carolina, Turner had very little access to music or musical education and has first-hand knowledge of how crucial music programs are.

100 percent of the proceeds from the concert, dubbed the 'After the Storm: Coming Together Benefit Concert With Josh Turner,' will be split between the Ringgold band and the Ringgold athletic fund.

The show will be held at the Davis Cattle Company in Ringgold. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here and here.
