Perhaps now we know why country stars like Eric Church always wear sunglasses. Justin Moore tells Taste of Country Nights radio host Jeremy Robinson that a recent radio station visit left him with an eye patch and temporary blindness in one eye.

Moore says he was talking to an industry friend when he leaned in to hear what she was saying. However, he couldn’t dodge her animated physical expressions. “I woke up in the middle of the night… I couldn’t see, I couldn’t open my eye,” he says in the video below. “I had sharp pains shooting through my eye all day, it doubled me over.”

The ”Til My Last Day’ singer was told to cover the right eye with an eye patch before his show in Baltimore. “I looked like a pirate,” he explains. “I looked like a tiny, midget pirate.”

Moore is currently on Church’s Blood, Sweat and Beers Tour, which runs through Dec. 15. This weekend, they’ll be in Kansas City, Mo.
