Justin Moore is getting ready to release a new album titled Kinda Don't Care, and he stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to share some of his favorite tracks from the project — including one that was slated for Luke Bryan.

"'Goodbye Back,' I wrote really early on, maybe two or three years ago," he reveals. "I don't write well by myself, those types of songs. I can write super traditional stuff, that's kinda what comes out of me naturally. That's a little more progressive sound. I wrote that with my producer, Jeremy Stover, and a guy who does write kind of stuff well, Ross Copperman."

Copperman came up with the track, and Moore had the title. "It kinda just fell out of us all instantly," Moore recalls. "It was one of those songs ... some of them you bang away at for two or three days, and some of them take a half hour, and that one was kind of the latter."

"Hell on a Highway" was a song Moore found for the album, but did not participate in writing.

"I was doing a festival type event in Texas, and somebody sent me that song, and immediately I loved it," he recalls.

He wanted to record it, but Bryan already had it on hold. Big Machine label head Scott Borchetta felt it was vital to the project to secure the song.

"So I said, 'Well, I'll just text or call Luke,'" Moore relates. "I don't know which one I did, but he hit me back and said, 'Man, if you love it, take it.' And that speaks volumes about the type of guy Luke is. Luke and I have known each other since neither of us had a record deal. We've known each other a long time, and I'm very appreciative that he let us run with that."

Kinda Don't Care is set for release on Aug. 12.
