Kacey Musgraves' delightfully campy "Biscuits" video plays off her love of old-time country variety shows and an oddball sense of humor.

Musgraves said she wanted the video to feel like “Hee Haw meets Pee Wee’s Playhouse meets Wes Anderson.” Featuring puppets, chickens, silly costumes and a large cast of country dancers, the brightly-colored video matches the tongue-in-cheek fun of the song's hook: "Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy."

There's even a "commercial break" in the middle promoting the fictional "Mind Your Own Biscuits Mix," a reference to the famous sponsor spots that peppered old-school radio and TV programs.

"Biscuits" is the first single off Musgraves' second album, Pageant Material.

Speaking with Entertaiment Weekly, the "Follow Your Arrow" and "Merry Go 'Round" singer reveals her new project was inspired by some of her favorite classic country records, ones by artists like Glen Campbell, Marty Robbins and Roger Miller, among others.

"Recording this record was really fun and exciting for me because I knew exactly what I wanted to go for," she explains. "Consistently touring and playing with my great band has made me a better singer and player and has helped me define my vision. So there was less guesswork this time around.”
