Kacey Musgraves may be forging her own path in country music as the CMA New Artist of the Year, but when it comes to the holidays, she's all about tradition. And one of her favorites revolves around someone very special -- her grandfather.

Every year, the 'Follow Your Arrow' singer follows a scavenger hunt set by her Grandpa in order to snatch up her Christmas present.

"My Grandpa has a scavenger hunt puzzle that he does every year," she dishes. "Even though I’m like too old for the puzzle, he’s like, ‘You’re still gonna do it.’ So, every year we do that, and it’s funny ‘cause sometimes you’ll find your present in the bathroom or in a tree or out behind the shed."

Of course, Musgraves' family game is not just any scavenger hunt -- it's pretty inventive. "He does a little trail of like either corn or a string to it," the newcomer adds. "It’s very imaginative, and it’s something I look forward to every year. It’s a little tradition."

In addition to scavenging her way to her presents, Musgraves loves one other holiday tradition -- and this one is more traditional.

"Stockings. I love stockings," she admits. "They’re kinda my favorite, ‘cause it’s like all the little goodies in there just are fun.”

While she loves the little goodies, the rising star has definitely received lots of big goodies in the form of country music success in 2013. Yep, this year has definitely seen her star rise, and we expect even bigger and better things from her in the year to come.
