Kacey Musgraves wants to know, "What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?"

In her new music video for the song by the same name, Musgraves takes on an old Hollywood air with a glitzy gown and shimmering fuchsia lips, standing in front of a magical set that's reminiscent of a party gone by. She steps up to the vintage microphone and begins the tune from her new Christmas album, A Very Kacey Christmas, adding a sexy, yet classy vibe to the well-known song. Musgraves brings this song and other classics to her Christmas album, but also wrote several originals for the project. “A Willie Nice Christmas” features, of course, Willie Nelson, while another new tune, “Present Without a Bow” features Leon Bridges. Other originals include “Christmas Makes Me Cry,” which Musgraves co-wrote with songwriting heavy-hitters Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, and “Ribbons and Bows.” The artist has never been one to shy away from the quirky, so the record fittingly includes songs like “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and the Hawaiian tune “Mele Kalikimaka.”

“I’m describing it as part western swing sprinkled with bits of classic pop, hazy Hawaiian moments and child-like fun that all comes to nostalgic/melancholy end and ultimately is very ‘me,'” Musgraves wrote on Instagram. “This was such an enriching musical experience and I can’t wait for you to hear it!”

The singer-songwriter says she worked to create a record that included people who don’t always feel the Christmas cheer when December rolls around.

“There can be a touch of sad feelings and memories during the holiday season for a lot of people so I knew when I went in to write I wanted to include all the emotions this time of year can bring out,” she explained before the album’s release.

Musgraves will have someone special to spend New Year's Eve with. She got engaged to singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly on Christmas Eve.
