Fans of singer/songwriter Katie Armiger are on a roller coaster of emotions this week, first reading claims the artist is “taking a breather” from her career, according to her former record label, Cold River Records, then seeing a response from Armiger stating the opposite. The 23-year-old posted a photo on Instagram later that day (June 17) with a caption saying the statement was “not my words, and certainly not my intention.” Her original post was taken down, and when Armiger re-posted the sentiment, it was deleted as well. The artist also noted she no longer has access to her Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Armiger did include in the note that she will soon be able to post a full statement, so it appears fans will get a little more to the story soon. Her upcoming album has been shelved for now, according to Cold River’s president via Country Aircheck. It was set to include her most recent single, “One Night Between Friends.” Armiger recently appeared at Nashville’s CMA Fest to host a listening party for the record and also performed during the event, and she said nothing during any of those pre-release events that would indicate that anything had changed about the schedule for the album, so the announcement from Cold River appears to have been a surprise even to her.
