With modern communication technology the way it is today, most people think of texting the same way as speaking over the phone. Not Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, however.

In an interview with DuJour, Kidman says because her relationship with her husband is often long-distance, they try to keep as connected as possible, and for them, that means no texting.

"My husband and I never text each other. We never do. Once in a blue moon, we’ll text. But mainly we say, ‘I want to hear your voice,'” she explains of how her marriage to Urban works.

Perhaps this atypical relationship characteristic is why the two have been together so long and still seem to genuinely love (and like) each other.

"That’s very unusual but we’ve been together for 10 years,” Kidman continues. "We started like that and we haven’t changed it. We don’t email each other either. So it’s about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible."

The couple regularly display their affection for one another, whether it’s posting a sweet video on their anniversary or Urban conducting a gigantic singalong of “Happy Birthday” for Kidman at 2015 Country Jam.

Kidman also says in the interview that Urban is willing to take hours-long flights just to see her for one night in between shows.

"I had an opening of the play three nights ago, and he’s in the middle of a tour in the States. I said, ‘It’s too much for you to have to fly all the way back, don’t worry,’ and he said, ‘I’m flying.’ He flew 10 hours to come and be with me for the night, and then he flew back and did a gig. That for me is love in action,” she gushes. "That’s extraordinary. But I would do the same for him and that’s what we’ve committed to as a couple."

Urban has been on tour around the country and continues through early October. He’s also getting ready for the final season of American Idol, which he joined as a celebrity judge in 2012 — though according to Urban, it might not be over forever.

“I’ve been hearing more and more that there’s so much love out there for Idol that it may continue on in some form somewhere else," he dishes. "I don’t know. I just know there’s so much talk about it maybe being the final season where it is. And, at some point coming back to life again, so who knows."

Urban and Kidman will celebrate 10 years of marriage in 2016.
