Keith Urban is preparing to release his new studio album, Ripcord, and he'll preview the tracks from the project in a very special live performance that will air online.

Ripcord is set for release on May 6, and Urban will give fans a sneak preview of some of the songs, as well as treat them to live renditions of previous hits, during a concert on May 4 that will air from Studio 48 in New York City. The event is titled Tidal X: Keith Urban, and it will live stream via Tidal, giving fans from all over the world the chance to hear some of the new songs live before they're available to buy.

The New York City streaming concert is the first of three special events Urban has planned in anticipation of Ripcord, with other one-of-a-kind events planned in Nashville and Los Angeles.

Urban has already scored two hit singles from Ripcord; "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" hit the Top 5, and "Break on Me" reached No. 1. His latest single is "Wasted Time," which once again pushes the sonic boundaries for both Urban and country radio. That was deliberate on Urban's part, co-writer and co-producer Greg Wells tells Taste of Country.

“He really encouraged me not to do anything that sounds like a country record,” he relates with a laugh. “And I’m like, ‘What do you mean? You’re a country artist.’ But he said, ‘I will bring that element to the track the minute I start singing on it.’ So I just followed my nose.”
