Carrie Underwood was sadly not on hand to join Keith Urban on stage to perform their duet "The Fighter" at a recent show in Texas. But Urban found a respectable replacement to accompany him on the track with country newcomer, Kylie Frey.

While performing at the Christus Gala in Beaumont, Texas, on Saturday (April 22), the country superstar was ready to perform the hit song, but was in need of a suitable duet partner. That's when he surprised the crowd and brought out the aspiring country singer to do the honors. In a Facebook video posted by Louisiana's KEDM news host Tiffany Murphy, the two can be heard singing the first verse and chorus of the song.

Frey holds her own with the established country star, exuding plenty of confidence while hitting all the right notes. Both singers look like they're enjoying themselves onstage, with Urban simultaneously rocking out on guitar while Frey dances along and sings right to him.

Frey is a singer-songrwriter from Louisiana, now living in Nashville to chase her dreams of being a country star. She released a track called "The Chase" in 2015 followed by "Me and These Boots" in 2016. Her latest single is called "Too Bad" and serves as a duet with Texas singer Randy Rogers.

"The Fighter" is the fifth single off Urban's chart-topping album, Ripcord. He and Underwood have performed the song together a few times, debuting it live at the 2017 Grammys, following it up with a performance at the 2017 ACM Awards. It currently sits in the No. 2 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. "The Fighter" was inspired by Urban's wife, Nicole Kidman.
