Kellie Pickler and her new hubby Kyle Jacobs bagged an over-the-top Nashville wedding for an intimate ceremony in Antigua with the Caribbean sunset as their backdrop. "It's about the bride and groom and God," Pickler said in regards to her perfect wedding. Of course, this doesn't mean Pickler shied away from a glamorous wedding dress.

The former 'American Idol' singer recruited Badgley Mischka to design her special gown, giving them total freedom. “I really didn’t ask for anything at all,” she tells PEOPLE. “They just took such great care of me and did it all. I just stood there and instantly fell in love with it.”

“It’s such a classic, timeless gown that I would love to pass down to our children,” Pickler remarks in regards to her ivory duchess satin strapless gown, with accented crystal beading on the train.

But her favorite part of the dress is the removable tulle ballgown skirt. “I took the skirt off as soon as the ceremony was over and wore the short dress for the rest of the evening,” she adds.

Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka -- huge fans of Pickler since her debut on 'American Idol' in 2006 -- were delighted to have the opportunity to design her dress. “She has such a pure, kind spirit and we were thrilled when she asked us to design her wedding gown. The classic ballgown silhouette is perfect for her amazing figure.”
