Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood were named the top 'American Idol' earners of 2012. These two singers are a fairytale example of what can happen when your talent is portrayed on a hit television show. They won Season 1 and Season 4, respectively, and they continue to rake in the income years removed from their wins.

According to Forbes, Clarkson had an extremely successful 2012, marked by the $8 million she earned. The show's first-ever 'Idol' beat out plenty of talented competition to top the list, proving that last year, she was a bit 'Stronger' than the rest in the money-making realm.

Another familiar face landing high on Forbes' list is the one-and-only Underwood. She tied with rocker Chris Daughtry, who didn't win his season. Underwood's success was primarily driven by her 'Blown Away' album. The 'Two Black Cadillacs' songstress proves through her spot on the Forbes list that she can definitely afford two black cadillacs --- or 20, for that matter.

2011 'Idol' cutie Scott McCreery was also on the list, earning $4 million last year -- not bad for a teenager who is splitting his time on tour with college classes.

Next year, this list could be totally different. Who knows, maybe this year's 'Idol' winner will be battling Clarkson and Underwood for a spot on the list of top 'Idol' earners. Tune in to Season 12 on Fox on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM ETas the battles heat up.
