It will be a very merry Christmas for Kelly Clarkson fans this year! The original 'American Idol' will debut her first-ever Christmas special, 'Kelly Clarkson's (Cautionary) Christmas Tale,' this holiday season.

With her bubbly personality and powerhouse vocals, the superstar has the power to turn the holiday into a holly jolly season for everybody, and it will be interesting to see what her first trial of a holiday show consists of. There haven't been many details released about it since the news came out, but the title implies the special could actually have a storyline, or something more than a microphone, stage and music.

In fact, the entertainment factor seems to be the theme of NBC Christmas specials, and country star Blake Shelton is a prime example. His hilarious program, ‘Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas,' aired in 2012 and involved a comical sketch of the singer dressed as an elf, a big celebrity lineup and even a special appearance by his mama.

Clarkson will undoubtedly have everyone rockin' around the Christmas tree in 2013, especially if she plays hits from her new holiday album, 'Wrapped in Red.' The starlet actually sang in Shelton's special as well, performing a beautiful version of 'There's a New Kid in Town' backed by an orchestra. Perhaps she'll return the favor this year and have Shelton appear in her cautionary Christmas tale?

The suspense of what's to come is almost as bad as waiting to open Christmas presents, and fans who want a sneak peek can attend the taping of the special on Oct. 30 at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Tickets are now on sale here.

'Kelly Clarkson's (Cautionary) Christmas Tale' will be shown on NBC with an air date still TBA.
