After President Obama gave his now-famous inauguration speech on the steps of the Capitol on Monday, Kelly Clarkson had her very own chance to shine. The country crossover (and Obama supporter) sang a heart-tugging rendition of 'My Country 'Tis of Thee.'

Clarkson walked on stage looking elated to sing with the United States Marine Band. The patriotic song started out softly, with Clarkson singing at a low pitch. As the music progressed, the world-renowned band rose to a crescendo and the first-ever 'American Idol' champion was able to really unleash the power of her voice.

The combination of beautiful music and Clarkson's powerful voice had people in the audience wiping tears from their eyes. One shot of President Obama revealed that he was somber, taking in the moment of Clarkson singing 'My Country 'Tis of Thee' after his second inaugural address.

After the song ended, President Obama stopped to congratulate Clarkson on a beautiful performance and kissed her on the cheek.

After she made her way off stage -- pausing to smile at Vice President Joe Biden -- the 'Stronger' hitmaker tweeted, “What an honor to be a part of history! Obama’s presence was powerful and his words unforgettable. It’s a proud day for America!”

Surely, her performance at the 2013 presidential inauguration was one that Clarkson will never forget. Regardless of your politics, it's an honor to sing for your country.
