We know Kelsea Ballerini and Taylor Swift are besties, so it wouldn't be hard to believe that Swift would give Ballerini a first listen to any new music she makes, or that they might collaborate.

So when Ballerini posted a video on Snapchat of a studio setup with a song playing that sounds suspiciously like Swift’s vocals, fans went crazy. The song is in line with Swift's sound, and the lyrics are reminiscent of her romantic, yet heartbreak-tinged style:

We didn’t know it / thought we could grow it / beautiful for a moment / we were roses,” a female voice sings over a thumping pop track.

But it's not Taylor Swift. Ballerini clarifies that it is her singing — not Swift — on the demo, which she shares is called "Roses":

A representative for Swift furthers that though Ballerini and Swift are friends, they have yet to collaborate in the studio, and this is not a song featuring the "Bad Blood" singer. Earlier this year, Big Machine label president Scott Borchetta confirmed that Swift will not be releasing a new album this October (Swift's typical schedule is to release a new album every two years, almost always in October. 1989 came out in 2014). Of course, her diehard fans are still holding out hope that she'll drop new music unexpectedly, Beyonce-style.

Meanwhile, Ballerini is currently on the road with Rascal Flatts on their Rhythm and Roots Tour and celebrating the success of her most recent single, "Peter Pan," which recently hit No. 1. With that achievement, the relative newcomer made history by becoming the first female country artist to hit No. 1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album. The First Time came out in May of 2015.
