Kenny Chesney usually plays the biggest concert venues in the world, but a lucky group of fans got to see him up close and personal during a gig at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J.

The club is hallowed ground for music fans and acts; it served as the launching pad for a number of Jersey's top acts, including Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi. Chesney performed a private concert at the Stone Pony on May 12 to celebrate the launch of his No Shoes Radio channel on SiriusXM. Chesney is set to release a new album, Some Town Somewhere, on July 8.

“In some ways, this record is more me than anything I’ve done," he says. “You get into my head, my heart and the way so much of what’s going on around all of us hits me. Taken as a whole, this is a record about seizing life in all its forms: the moments you wish wouldn’t end, the times that make you rethink your priorities, the simple stuff that gives us balance, a few characters at the bar and the hope that it’s all worth doing.”

The first single from the project is "Noise," which marks the first time Chesney has delved into social commentary.

“Sometimes you know you’ve got something so timely, so right then, you have to grab it,” he relates. “It seemed like everywhere I turn, everywhere I go, there is so much stuff coming at you. Your phone, your car, on the streets, on TV. Everywhere it’s just so loud, so much, so many different things — all pushing buttons, being sensational, shouting for attention. You can’t escape it, and you can’t turn it down.”

The superstar kicked off his Spread the Love Tour in April, and will perform all over the country before wrapping up in August with a pair of concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The tour includes a headlining slot at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival, which takes place June 10-12 at Hunter Mountain in upstate New York.
