Following his stint in one of country music's most successful duos ever, Brooks and DunnKix Brooks is continuing his music career as a solo artist, but also exploring new territory.

The singer will star in his first ever Western flick, dubbed 'Ambush at Dark Canyon.'

Brooks is somewhat familiar with the acting world, as in the past few years he lent has his voice in the animation world with his role in CMT's 'Bounty Hunters,' played a part in 'Thriftstore Cowboy' and starred in 'The Last Ride.' Now, the 58-year-old will take on a Western -- and he's more than glad to wear another entertainment hat.

“My fans have continued to let me keep doing what I do, whether that’s as an artist, radio host or actor,” says Brooks. “They’ve given me the chance to try new things and a reason to work harder than I ever have before. I’m really proud of all of these projects and can’t wait to see what we get into next!”

'Ambush at Dark Canyon' is available now On Demand, and will be on shelves at Walmart and Sam’s Club on Jan. 14, with all other retailers to follow on March 11. Additionally, the Walmart release will exclusively include a CD soundtrack produced by Brooks. It also features a collaboration with Randy Houser, who makes his acting debut in the film.
