Country soul singer Kree Harrison brought the Procol Harum classic 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' to the stage of 'American Idol' on Wednesday night (April 24), delivering a strong rendition that was a perfect showcase for her unique vocal strengths.

She chose the song as part of the evening's theme of one hit wonders. She was trying to redeem herself from a performance earlier in the night of 'It Hurt So Bad' that the judges felt was somewhat lackluster -- and she did.

She sang the classic in a higher key than the original, and it proved to be ideally suited to her smoky, soulful voice, which in this instance had nothing to do with country but was still perfect for her. She jumped up into her very high, powerful range for the choruses, departing from the straight melody for some nice bluesy runs.

"Just let the world know -- you can flat-out sing!' Randy Jackson exclaimed. "You sang your face off."

Mariah Carey agreed, adding, "I'm gonna go download that, because I need it on my phone."

Keith Urban was still skeptical, saying he didn't think it was the right song choice for her that night, while Nicki Minaj said, "I loved that performance. You put your heart and soul into it." She said that she didn't think it was enough to keep Harrison out of the bottom two, but added that even if Harrison goes home this week, she will still make a multi-Platinum album in any genre she chooses.

Harrison will learn her fate on the results show on Thursday night (April 25).
