Kristin Chenoweth took a few minutes out from her duties co-hosting the 2012 American Country Awards to perform a humorous tribute to Dolly Parton titled 'What Would Dolly Do?'

The spitfire performer has been out of action in recent months, ever since an accident on the set of the CBS drama 'The Good Wife' injured her and forced her to leave her role on the show. Monday night's (Dec. 10) co-hosting gig was her first public appearance since then, but the diminutive singer/actress didn't let it hold her back, delivering a high-energy performance of the fun song.

Of course, it wouldn't be the American Country Awards without some badly-written, utterly pointless skits, and poor Chenoweth was forced to act out an extremely silly bit in which she pretended to call Parton on the phone from the stage.

She recovered like the true showbiz professional she is, finishing up a high energy rendition that was a nice diversion from much of the bland sameness of some of the other performers of the night. Afterward her co-host Trace Adkins -- as awkward this year as in years past -- quipped stiffly, "What would Dolly do? I ask that a lot ... no I don't."
