Lady Antebellum to Take a Break After Current Tour
Lady Antebellum have been hard at work this year, but the hitmaking country trio will take a break from recording and touring after their current tour comes to an end.
“Everything’s obviously always in forward motion, but since our first album we’ve not really given ourselves the gift of time, to just get in the room and write together until we feel like we have everything,” she says.
Lady A shot to instant success with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2008, and have built upon that with subsequent releases and No. 1 hits including “Need You Now,” “Just a Kiss” and “American Honey.” Their current album, 747, is a worldwide hit and has scored three more hit singles; “Bartender,” “Freestyle” and “Long Stretch of Love.” Their Wheels Up tour has also been a huge success.
“We’ve just made so many albums in such a short period of time, and we’re proud of them, and what we’ve done in our career, and what we’ve said with them — but we’ve never given ourselves the gift of time,” Scott states. “So, that’s what this next season is for us, spending time with our families, and really relishing in this successful year for us, and focusing on where we’re headed next.”
All three band members have gotten married since they began their career together, and Scott and Dave Haywood are both parents. Charles Kelley and his wife recently announced they are expecting their first child, so the break comes at a good time for the band members to enjoy some personal time. But that doesn’t mean Lady A fans don’t have plenty to look forward to.
“Knowing us, it will probably be a lot shorter than what we probably set out for it to be, because we can’t ever really stop,” Scott says. “But yeah, there’s no timeline, and that feels so nice to know. When we feel like it’s ready we’ll go to work.”
Lady Antebellum currently have dates scheduled through Sept. 19, when they’ll perform in Camden, N.J.
