On tonight's episode of 'American Idol,' everybody's favorite Southern bell Lauren Alaina took on the Sara Evans track 'Born to Fly.' The contestants had to choose songs from the 21st century tonight, and this was a good choice lyrically for Alaina, since the teenage hopeful was having doubts about her performance technique beforehand.

Although she emotionally admitted to doubting herself on occasion for not delivering huge notes like her 'Idol' counterparts, Alaina emerged from backstage looking as confident as ever. Accompanied by a fiddle player and guitarist front and center, Alaina did a great job singing the Sara Evans song, showing off her ability for gracefully changing pitch in her notes. Not only did she sing with a country twang, the adorable singer looked very country too, wearing a denim jacket, cowboy boots, and a cute skirt.

The judges encouraged and praised Alaina, but also had some constructive criticism for the contestant. Steven Tyler liked the performance, and also suggested that she take on some "Alison Krauss, Faith Hill, or Shania Twain" for her next performance. Jennifer Lopez told Alaina that she has the power to sing big, strong notes, and also told her she loved the "color in [her] voice." Randy Jackson also believes in Alaina, comparing her to Mariah Carey. He also reminded Alaina that, "When we first saw you, you were singing back and forth with Steven!"

So will America keep Lauren Alaina around for another week of performances on 'American Idol'? Or did her rendition of Sara Evans' 'Born to Fly' fail to take flight? Either way, we think Alaina has a plenty of exciting career opportunities coming her way.
