Lauren Alaina is back with new music following a lengthy break. She's thrilled to have a new EP for fans to hear as well as a new single — which she worked extremely hard on — so she was excited to gush about new tunes during a stop at ToC Nights.

The blonde-haired beauty released a five-song EP on Oct. 2 which includes her current single, "Next Boyfriend," among other songs. Alaina is thrilled to finally be able to share her new music with her fans, but especially while on the road.

“It feels really great to have new music out," she says. "I didn’t have any out for a very long time, so I’m excited to have stuff out for people to listen to, and I can already tell at the shows they’re singing them back to me. So that’s exciting.”

The American Idol  singer wrote all of the songs on the EP, and then some.

“I worked really hard on it. I wrote over 200 songs for the project — five of them are on the EP,” Lauren Alaina explains. “The first 100 probably wouldn't have made it, and the second 100 we had to go through.”

One song, "Road Less Traveled," she co-wrote with pop artist Meghan Trainor, who is making lots of friends in the country world.

“We wrote that song probably a year and a half, two years ago. Meghan and I used to write quite a bit together but we don’t really get to anymore — she’s in L.A. now and she’s busy, obviously," Lauren Alaina says. "We don’t really get to write as much now, but I just went to L.A. recently and saw her and got to spend some time with her. It was really cool. We stand for the same things. She’s all about self worth and that’s kind of what I want to put out in the universe, as well.”
