Lauren Alaina debuted a few surprises for fans at her performance in Kentucky on Saturday night. For starters, she walked onstage with a shorter new haircut. But the real kicker happened when the 17-year-old 'American Idol' runner-up announced that she had missed her own prom, so she was going to throw one herself -- onstage.

Of course, life on the road opening for Sugarland is a dream come true for the rising country star. But dreams don't always come without sacrifices. Before singing Lady Antebellum's 'Dancing Away With My Heart,' Alaina called up a guy from the audience and invited everyone to have a slow dance.

But Alaina didn't stop there. Determined to dance the night away, she must have crashed a prom somewhere in Kentucky that night. After her show, she tweeted, "I crashed a prom tonight after my set. So glad I still got to go to prom haha (:". Guess she doesn't really need Hunter Hayes after all!

The 'Like My Mother Does' singer has a break from road life during the next few weeks, until she picks up with a show in Pensacola on May 4. For a complete list of dates, click here.
