The Showdown: Lauren Alaina vs. Trace Adkins

Lauren Alaina has just won a sweet victory in the Showdown, and will face a special Christmas challenge from Trace Adkins until Monday.

The American Idol alum's new single is "Next Boyfriend," a fun country-pop hybrid singalong that's infectious. Adkins returns to country radio with "Jesus and Jones," a somber reflection on both his personal demons and his faith.

The songs couldn't be more different, but only one of them can survive in a Showdown that is being extended through Monday morning due to the Christmas holiday.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour online. If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.
