‘American Idol’ Contestant Lauren Alaina Sings Reba’s ‘Turn on the Radio’
Reba McEntire's new single 'Turn on the Radio' was well-represented by 'American Idol' hopeful Lauren Alaina on tonight's girls-only episode. Alaina, who is all of 16-years-old and already has judges thinking that she could be the last woman standing, hails from Georgia. She paid tribute to her Southern roots by belting out a rockin'-with-a-capital-R rendition of the up-tempo, feel-good song from McEntire's 'All the Woman I Am.'
Alaina's performance was electrifying. We thought we felt sparks shooting out of our TV screen. If Miss McEntire herself was watching, she would undoubtedly be sporting an ear-to-ear grin, as Alaina did her song proud.
Alaina had the crowd and the judges grooving in their seats while she sang the relatively new tune. The judges noted that Alaina's talent is as natural and effortless as it gets, and they even made mention of the fact that the singer, with her flowy mane of blonde hair, isn't fully aware of how much talent is surging through her DNA.
While Alaina is a little bit Kelly Clarkson and a little bit Carrie Underwood, mixing an urban, pop and country flair into her performances, one thing is for sure: you will be hearing more from this gorgeous Georgia peach.
