LeAnn Rimes has been in the spotlight since she was very young. She's been honest in interviews about how, like child stars, she gave up important parts of her childhood to pursue her career. In a new interview, the singer admits that if she had children of her own, she wouldn't be too quick to push them to follow in her footsteps.

"I'd let my own child develop their talent, but it's important to let kids be kids," she tells AOL. "I wouldn't encourage them to enter the industry at a young age."

Rimes shot to fame at the age of 14, scoring the smash hit 'Blue' and winning a Grammy. She's gone on to enjoy a long and prosperous career, but she's seen the dark side of that success, too, including lawsuits with record labels, while very private family and personal issues that have played out in public. She's not sure she'd want that for her own children. "I'd be honest with them; what goes on is not a fairytale," she says.

Rimes is married to actor Eddie Cibrian, and she is the stepmother to his two sons; 9-year-old Mason and 5-year-old Jake. Their mother is 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' cast member Brandi Glanville, with whom Rimes has an ongoing bitter public feud.
